Privacy Notice

Builder is a web app that building companies use to track their construction projects against the signed Quote. This notice explains what information Builder holds about you, where it is kept, and your rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

Who is responsible for your information

The building company that added you to Builder is responsible for your information. Builder handles it on that company's behalf, under an agreement with the company, and only to run the service.

What information Builder holds

• Your full name, and your email address or mobile number.
• When you log in, and your agreement to this notice.
• The projects you are part of: the Quote, the Contract, Line Items, costs (never shown to Foremen), Progress, Variation Orders and their approvals, and who recorded each of them.

Builder doesn't hold special personal information or information about children, and doesn't sell or share your information for advertising.

Where your information is kept

Builder stores your information on servers in the European Union (Supabase, Frankfurt). Builder also uses service providers in the United States:

• Vercel runs the website.
• Resend sends login emails.
• Anthropic reads uploaded Quotes to set up the project.

These providers are bound by data-protection agreements, including the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, that protect your information to a standard similar to POPIA. This means your information is transferred outside South Africa. Before you use Builder, you are asked to agree to that.

How long it is kept

Your information is kept while the building company uses Builder. Your Progress Entries, approvals and name stay in a project's history so the record stays complete. When the company stops using Builder, its information is deleted.

Your rights

You may ask to see the information held about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted, and you may object to how it is used. Ask the building company that added you; they will deal with it with Builder's help.

If you are unhappy with how your information is handled, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za).

Changes to this notice

Each version of this notice is numbered and dated. If a new version changes where your information goes or what is held, you will be asked to agree again.
